Description
This beautiful pair of Staffordshire Spaniel Dogs is a true Victorian treasure that will add elegance to any collection. Crafted in the mid 19th century in the Staffordshire district of the United Kingdom, these original pottery figurines boast a rust color and sit on oval bases, measuring 4-3/4" in height. The oval bases measure 4-3/8" wide. They are in beautiful estate condition with NO chips, NO repairs and NO restorations. There is a very faint mold firing line near the front feet, which occurred during production and possibly due to higher heat which also caused the red over-glaze paint to appear drier and flake, as shown in the photos. The over-glaze rust or red color shows age appropriate losses. This form dates from the mid 19th century. They are a wonderful authentic pair. Their age, estimated to be between 1850-1899, adds to their charm and uniqueness. These Spaniel Dogs will make a valuable addition to any antique collection, with their exquisite craftsmanship and historical significance. Don't miss this opportunity to own a piece of history!
