Large Beswick Staffordshire England Spaniel Dog Figurine | No. 1378 - 5 Vintage 1980s 7.8” Staffordshire Wally Dog - Beswick Spaniel - 1378-5 - Staffordshire Single Mantle Dog - Made In England . A lovely Beswick Porcelain King Charles Spaniel. It is an iconic mantle dog in white and gold colour. The Staffordshire flat back dog is marked "Beswick England 1378-5" on the base. It is in excellent period condition, with no chips or cracks. The dog is well modelled and decorated by hand, having the most naïve face. Decorating with Staffordshire dogs is a timeless design trend that has been popular since the 18th century. The Staffordshire spaniel, which has been in production since the 1720s, became the quintessential Victorian status symbol in England and Scotland . This would make a great gift for collectors of Staffordshire pottery or dog lovers. MEASUREMENTS (approx.): Height: 20 cm / 7.8" Base: front length-15 cm / 5.9"; width 9cm CONDITION Dog is in a very good condition, no chips, cracks or crazing and has very nice shining glazing.
