Thi s is a superb pair of Staffordshire copper lustre, green lustre & white spaniel dogs with both having the wonderful overall portrayals, embossed no2s underneath the bases of which: During our research we have been informed they cer tainly date from the 19th century. Date about c1880s. Staffordshire, England origin. Variations in the lustre colouring of a copper lustre & green lustre which is not unusual. Staffordshire spaniels, similar, with the embossed no's feature in the A-Z of Staffordshire Dogs, A Potted History by Clive Mason Pope. Confirms the date of c1880s. A left and a right. A wonderful portrayal of the seated spaniel dogs with the copper lustre, green lustre & w hite colouring with the: wonderful coloured faces.. Each has an embossed no2 underneath the base. copper lustre collar, locket and chain. pottery. Each have an overall height of about 10.25inches. Max base size of about 6 x 3.75in ches. Condition: Considering the age: the overall condition to both is: excellent and both are not subject to: any major blemishes except: due to age: areas of crazing and minor rubbing.
