Description
Also known as "Hearth Spaniels" or "Fireplace Dogs" Unmarked and unlabeled. Holst of Barneby magazine believes Staffordshire dog figurines to be the world's most reproduced pieces, so it would be impossible for me to venture a guess as to the manufacture. When positioned side by side, the left dog (with greyer markings) weighs 14.5 ounces and the right dog (with blacker markings) weighs 12.3 ounces. According to Kristina Gyllenberg Holst of Barneby's magazine: "The Staffordshire dogs were decorative interior items in most English homes during the Victorian era, placed on the shelf of the fireplace or on tables. The Staffordshire dog figurines symbolize English countryside life. The Spaniels are especially popular, perhaps because of their connection to the royal family who favored this dog breed." Condition is excellent overall showing light and minimal use with no chips, cracks, repairs, staining, discoloration or other damage. Pre-owned items are used and show varying amounts of wear. For this reason, I provide many pictures, please take a moment to look at them closely. The photos are of the exact item you are bidding on. If you have any questions, or would like additional photos, please let me know prior to placing a bid. Carefully packed and boxed, and ships promptly via USPS Priority Mail or Ground Advantage Mail, per buyer's choice.
